A new reptile handling and keeping course has been launched by Derby College at Broomfield Hall in Morley because of a growing number people keeping exotic pets. 

Derby College animal management lecturer Linzi Smithies with Leo, the Leopard Gecko.People who already own reptiles or who are thinking of buying one as a pet will be able to attend a one-day keeping and handling course led by Derby College's animal care team.
The event, the date for which is not yet known, will information about correct feeding, living conditions and the chance to practise handling exotic creatures kept at Broomfield Hall.
The course is being led by animal behaviour specialist Linzi Smithies, who has worked at Chester Zoo and in South Africa  zoologist Michelle Twigg, who has specialised in exotic species.
