As very much a non-sports person I'm still excited about this venue.
It will help keep Derby on the map, especially following the closure of our Assembly Rooms, after that fire over a year ago. To start with the Arena is to host one of the BBC's free Ten Pieces Concerts performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra on Friday 19 June (http://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/BBC-s-Piece-Schools-Concert-performed-Derby-Arena/story-25961138-detail/story.html)
Perhaps it'll even motivate me to take up a new sport ... .... or perhaps not quite yet ...
Opening weekend
Opening weekend will take place on 28 and 29 March and it will be an amazing opportunity for everyone to come along, have a tour, take part in have-a-go sessions and demonstrations and get a good insight in to what Derby Arena has on offer.
The open day programme, packed with sporting events, will inspire, motivate and educate you on the different types of sports available at the Arena.
Full programme will be announced shortly.
